I really didn’t know too much about where I was going. I knew it
was supposed to be gorgeous, but that’s what most places in NZ claimed.
So I started my journey out there, a mere hour from Queenstown. As I drove
out, I found that the views just got better and better, the pity was, as
with many roads in NZ, the road demanded your attention. So an hour and
a half later, I arrive. I come in and meet the owner, go to a room, and
then it’s dinner and I meet the others. There’s the owners,
their two young kids, and three workers. There were a few guests this first
night, and one of who was going to be doing the same as I was, a day later.
It’s kinda hard to think where the time went. Every since leaving
Dunollie, I had either been working or traveling or looking for work, and
this was going to be just relaxing. The mornings were spent working, four
hours a day, and then I got all my food, and board. I spent the afternoons
at first exploring a little, and kayaking on the lake, and reading. Then
I wasted a lot of time trying to update this website. I had it in my head
that I needed a change to it, I had put it up hastily and it needed an
overhaul. So I just wasted time trying to figure this out. I thought that
the two weeks would easily be enough time, but I could never get what I
wanted, and so nothing got dune. I spent a lot of time on this project,
and there really weren’t any stories to tell. I worked, fiddled with
the site, soaked in the hot tub, watched movies, and hung out with my coworkers.
Also enjoyed the area, it was gorgeous. I was also waiting for George to
get here; it was going to be nice to see an old friend again. And faster
then I could believe it, my two weeks here were done. I had a great time,
and said my goodbyes, and then headed into Queenstown to Pick up George.
